In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of women in the field of data science. And yet, the representation is not quite where it should be. There is a lack of encouragement for young women in math and science, and few young girls decide to pursue STEM as a career. But, what would it mean for companies if there were more women in data science? What unique talents do women bring to the field and how could they bridge the gap between data and business operations?
Join us for a panel discussion featuring female-identifying data scientists, who decided to pursue a career in this male dominated field. They’ll share how they grew and maintained their interest in STEM throughout school, how we can support other young women in that pursuit, and the ways that women can influence the field of data science for better results for our companies.

Beaulah Aloysius, Principal Engineer, Verizon
As a principal Engineer, Beaulah is passionate about designing and creating ground breaking solutions in the data analytics and AI/ML space. She is a passionate, yet pragmatic thinker and maker across platforms and domains.
Beaulah started her career as a software engineer and then slowly transitioned into the data field taking the tech advisor position at Fedex and then Principal Engineer-data science at Verizon. She had taught computer courses in CTU and University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She holds a Masters degree in data warehouse and Ph.D in Cloud Security with AI/ML. She is active in STEM volunteering as a mentor in “ build by girls” and robotics coach at First Robotics.
Xi Palazzolo, Principal Data Scientist, Well Data Labs, Inc.
Xi is an entrepreneurial data scientist, a former veterinarian, and an epidemiologist. Xi likes to apply appropriate data science models and analysis to understand a business problem and devise scalable solutions that drives business values while helping leadership make decisions through compelling data storytelling.
Meghan Villard, Manager of Data Science, RevGen
Meghan Villard currently leads a Data Science practice with RevGen Partners, where the consulting team is a conduit between a business and its data, helping clients architect analytical solutions to produce data-driven decisions.
Prior to RevGen, Meghan began her career at Accenture Consulting then worked for a unicorn start-up, Ibotta, helping grow their data science practice. She holds a Master's in business analytics from the University of Texas.
Whitney Olmsted, Director, Data and Analytics, CapTech Consulting
Whitney Olmsted has over 20 years of experience working in the field of data and technology. She currently leads CapTech’s Denver Data and Analytics Practice as well as heading up CapTech’s National Data Strategy and Architecture service offering. She serves her clients as an account executive, a data strategist, and an analyst across multiple industries. She holds a masters in spatial statistics from John’s Hopkins and a bachelors from St. John’s College where she studied The Great Books with an emphasis in physics and mathematics.
Whitney pivoted from Bay Area startups to data consulting and then to working in the financial services industry where she was a strategist. Across all of these roles, Whitney was responsible for driving the understanding of strategic issues around product and competitive and regulatory trends. This included analyzing, interpreting, and reporting to leadership to help shape the strategic decisions of the firms where she worked. She further developed her data skills and strategic mindset by leveraging quantitative analyses to identify and capture opportunities to enhance capabilities and performance around products, business, client experience, product economics, market opportunities, and the competitive and regulatory environments. She led projects, performed advanced analyses, created business cases, controlled costs, mitigated risks, and produced high-visibility management reports and insights for consumption by senior leadership and boards.
Whitney joined CapTech Consulting 3 years ago bringing her advanced quantitative analysis and strategic mindset from her past experiences to serve new clients across a wide range of industries and portfolios. She began immediately working as a data strategist for CapTech clients looking to leverage data to scale and grow through strategic digital transformations. Her business acumen paired with years of technology and data experience quickly lead her to take over CapTech’s Data Strategy and Architecture service offering where she grew the practice and its capabilities. She now serves her clients as an account executive, managing demand, new project development, staffing and skill requirement, and delivery. She also leads the CapTech Denver office’s entire Data and Analytics practice area and is a national leader in the field of data and analytics.
